The Ullapool Guitar Festival, in Scotland, is very special to me. Back in 2000—the year the festival started—they gave me my first-ever ‘festival gig’! My excitement morphed into astonishment upon driving through the Highlands for the first time. It is—without doubt—one of the most staggering locations on Earth.
I have returned almost every year since and, during that time, I’ve enjoyed travelling with various artists to bring all things ‘guitar’ to schools in the Highlands, as well as writing music for the festival, performing (of course!), and jamming at the late-night festival club. My first-time jam at Ullapool was with the late Isaac Guillory… I now realise how lucky I was….
To tie in with the festival in 2025, I am hosting a one-off event: a three-day guitar workshop leading up to the first night!
I realise this is very early notice but, for those who want to attend, the reality is that accommodation in the village of Ullapool is very limited and will soon begin to fill for the festival period. Also, I totally understand everyone’s busy schedules and the need for advance notice to plan. So, for 2025, to mark 25 years since the very first festival, how about turning the 3-day festival into a 6-day event?

Clive Carroll 3-Day Guitar Workshop
The Ullapool Village Hall, Ullapool, Scotland.
Wednesday 1st October - 10.30am-1pm / 3pm-5pm
Thursday 2nd October - 10.30am-1pm / 3pm-5pm
Friday 3rd October - 10.30am-1pm

The Clive Carroll Guitar Workshop fee for the 1st - 3rd October is £250. It includes all tuition, as well as scores/Tab.
Accommodation and meals are not included however arrangements will be made to dine together in the evenings as a group. I’ll also be hosting typical 'Clive workshop’ night-time things such as Guitar Quiz Night and Student Jam Night!

**It’s not uncommon to receive the message “am I advanced enough to attend?” Don’t panic :-) If you know some chords and can play a couple of fingertstyle guitar pieces then the answer is “yes, you’ll be fine!”.
While this workshop is not for beginners, I will be tailoring the material to the players who book on the course. It will be hosted in a relaxed and informal setting with players often running through phrases and exercises, as a group.
